‘Iron Sky’ Team Reunites for €15M Sci-Fi Trilogy ‘DEEP RED,’ Launching Fan-Driven Financing Model

The creative team behind Iron Sky is reuniting to launch an ambitious new science fiction action trilogy titled DEEP RED.

Producer Tero Kaukomaa and director Timo Vuorensola have begun assembling

the core team and are preparing for a major trilogy launch later this year. The project

already brings together several key collaborators: Samuli Torssonen of Energia

VFX will oversee visual effects, Slovenian art-rock legends Laibach are in

discussions to compose the soundtrack, and Finlandia Award–winning author

Johanna Sinisalo has joined the writing team.

While Iron Sky told the outlandish story of Nazis hiding on the dark side of the Moon

— premiering at Berlinale’s Panorama in 2012 — DEEP RED shifts the battleground

to Mars, where the Red Menace is alive and well.

In the world of DEEP RED, communists have secretly occupied the Red Planet since

the 1950s, building a utopian society hidden from Earth. Their isolation has allowed

them to achieve what history never could: a truly functional Communist system —

made possible only by complete separation from humanity. But their fragile order

begins to unravel when an American astronaut, Simon Nash, crash-lands on Mars

and uncovers the hidden colony.

The Martian city is governed by an oppressive Artificial Intelligence known as Deep

Red, built from an old Soviet chess supercomputer. What appears at first to be a

Marxist dream state soon reveals itself as a system maintained through algorithmic

control and absolute surveillance.

Simon Nash joins forces with brilliant seismologist Katya Dedov, and together they

ignite a rebellion against the AI-controlled regime. But overthrowing one system only

opens the door to another: when billionaire industrialist Miles Spiros learns of the

power vacuum on Mars, he and his ultra-wealthy allies set their sights on becoming

the planet’s next rulers.

A Trilogy Produced as One Epic Event

The three DEEP RED films will be produced as a single continuous production — in

the spirit of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Shooting is planned for

2027, with the first installment slated for release in 2029, followed by the next two

films in consecutive years.

A short-film style promotional piece is currently in development and will launch in

2026.

Beyond the films, DEEP RED is designed as a transmedia universe, expanding into

games, graphic novels, collectibles, and a wide range of merchandise.

A New Era of Crowdfunding

Following in the footsteps of Iron Sky, which pioneered large-scale fan participation,

DEEP RED will once again harness the power of its global audience — this time

through a next-generation, tokenized revenue share crowdfunding model.

The production budget for the trilogy is projected at €15 million, with €10 million

planned to be raised through a blockchain-based, revenue-sharing token structure

built around IP participation. The team has released a White Paper outlining the

funding model and revenue principles in detail.

Fans have already demonstrated strong early support: a pre-round funding phase

has raised over €100,000 from dedicated Iron Sky supporters to finance Deep Red

development and project setup. Pre-round offering fans and investors extra perks

ends 28.2.2026.

With DEEP RED, the team aims to build not just a trilogy, but a next generation

entertainment universe where creative growth, community participation and shared

monetization come together .
